ANTHONY'S TRAVEL ARE FLYING HIGH!
When Anthony's Travel of Runcorn, winner of the UK Coach Awards Coach Operator of the year were looking for inspiration to name their new coach they looked to the skies christening the new addition to the fleet ' The Spirit of Sir Freddie Laker' after the late owner of Laker Airways and the original pioneer of low cost travel.
Richard Bamber Partner of Anthony's Travel explains the reason behind the name choice:
'In 1977 when I was six it was an ambition of my parents to visit the United States, however due to costly flights this was not possible until Laker Airways launched the Skytrain service in the same year offering fares across the Atlantic at around half of the price of the other carriers, therefore we were able to turn dreams into reality and visited California for a month along with my parents, brother, cousin and grandmother. We were even featured in the local papers under the headlines: 'Grandmother went halfway round the world!' and 'A glimpse of the great American Dream'.
None of this would of been possible for us if it wasn't for Freddie Laker who not only revolutionised the airline industry but transport in general and we like to think that this has been of benefit to Anthony's Travel'
Freddie Allen Laker, Sir Freddie's son, commented "This is an unexpected and fun tribute to my father's legacy. My family and I are thrilled that Anthony's Travel are passionate about the same ideals that my father believed in."
The Neoplan Tourliner was provided by MAN Bus and Coach, Manchester in association with Landmark Finance and is fitted with the latest EEV Euro 5 engine, 49 reclining seats, Synectics CCTV and Genius system, Orbital tracking system,air conditioning, DVD player, drinks machine, fridge, microwave and smart vac system.
The exterior of the coach is silver with the Anthony's Travel livery and ' The spirit of Sir Freddie Laker' in the the style of the Laker Skytrain Logo.
Anthony's Travel were one of the UK launch customers for the Tourliner in 2007 and takes the amount of Neoplan coaches in Anthony's Travel fleet to six.

Halton Haven's Twilight Walk
Anthonys Travel were proud to take part in the Halton haven's twilight walk where over 20 staff members and friends of the company took part in the 10km walk on Saturday 2nd July 2011. Shuttle minicoaches were also donated courtesy of Anthony's Travel to collect any tired walkers who couldn't last the distance! ...view the pictures on Facebook
On Saturday 16th July one of our Driver's sons Chris Newcombe will be taking part in a charity sky dive for the Hospice, his father Tom has opted to keep his feet on the ground and has kindly donated his time to drive the courtesy minicoach to the skydive!

Route One Excellence Awards 2011
Latest news: Anthony's Travel are pleased to be selected as a finalist in the Route One Excellence Awards 2011 in the category of best Coach Operator Medium fleets. Win or lose its a great achievement to make the final 7 and we will have all fingers crossed at the Awards which is held at Birmingham Motorcycle Museum on Wednesday 4th October 2011

London to Paris Bike Ride
Anthonys Travel have recently sponsored Louise Challoner as she took part in a bike ride from London to Paris on behalf of The Mark Gorry Foundation, an awareness group for testicle cancer.

World Champion Omar Haddad’s record medal haul at XIII World Special Olympic Games...
Omar Haddad (who Anthony's Travel proudly sponsor) put on the performance of a life time and scooped a total of 5 gold and two bronze medals in the
advanced and complex Level 3 Artistic gymnastics competition. Omar scooped gold on the High Bar,
Floor and Rings and Vault and bronze on Pommel and Parallel Bars. His overall score was such that
he collected the coveted ‘All Round Gold’ medal reserved for those who have excelled on all of their
gymnastics pieces.

North West organisations take top
honours in UK Coach Awards...
North West organisations and individuals are celebrating today with the news that they have won five major categories, two runners-up spots and seven high commendations in the prestigious 2011 UK Coach Awards.
Over 60 individuals, companies and organisations from across the UK coach and coach tourism industry were recognised and rewarded for their excellence and good practice at the Belmont International UK Coach Awards, which took place on Thursday 7th April at Manchester’s famous Piccadilly Hotel.
Amongst the prize-winners were coach operators and coach drivers who were nominated by group travel organisers and other industry customers from around the country.
Outstanding winners were the Cheshire family coach operator Anthony's Travel of Runcorn, who won two top awards and two High Commendations. First the company won the title Coach Operator of the Year (Medium Fleets) and drivers Mike Fitzgerald and Ken Jones were both Highly Commended in the Coach Driver of the Year award.
The evening was completed when Anthony's were named as UK Coach Operator of the Year, a judgement based both on customer nominations, performance data and a 'mystery shopper' exercise to test the company's customer friendliness. [read more]

Family coach firm backs Omar Haddad
A TALENTED Downs Syndrome gymnast selected to compete in the World Special Olympic Games has won support from World readers.
Omar Haddad, aged 22, of Downside, Widnes, has to raise £2,000 to compete at the event in Athens, in June, 2011.
After a World story featuring him being chosen to promote the Special Olympics in an interactive film, local businesses have offered to help.
Runcorn family coach firm Anthony’s Travel has donated £300, after sponsoring him throughout his gymnastic career.
Richard Bamber, aged 39, who founded the business with his parents, said: “Omar is a lovely lad.
“We started taking him to school when he was four and have watched him grow from a little boy to a small man.
“Too many times, people with learning difficulties are written off.
“It’s great to see that Omar is able to compete at the highest level.
“After each event, he always shows us his medals.
“By supporting causes such as Halton Haven and Omar, we are putting something back into the local community.”
Ann Abbott, who works at Morrisons in Widnes, is doing a sponsored walk.
Omar, himself, is having his head shaved to raise funds.
Omar’s mum, Liz, aged 52, said: “We know families and businesses are struggling at this time so any help is very much appreciated.
“Richard has seen Omar develop and always makes time to see how he’s getting on.
“They are a lovely family and are pleased they can help a local lad achieve his full potential.”
Omar trains at The Cheshire Academy of Integrated Sport and Arts in Crewe.

Anthony’s Travel wins second major industry award this year!
Coach operator, Anthony's Travel is celebrating after winning a major industry award that recognises business and operating excellence.
Anthony’s Travel, Runcorn, saw off stiff competition to win Small Coach Operator of the Year, at the routeONE Operator Excellence Awards.
Established in 1985 by Anne, Tony and Richard Bamber , Anthony's Travel is based in Runcorn and provide high quality coach travel with one of the most modern and diverse coach fleets in the area. Anthony's Travel are one of only 40 coach Operators across the UK to be an accredited member of Coach Marque, a bench mark of superior standards within the coaching industry.
The awards, organised by the bus and coach industry’s leading weekly trade magazine, routeONE, and held at the National Motorcycle Museum near Birmingham, were attended by representatives from around 700 bus and coach operators, suppliers and industry organisations from across the UK.
Commenting on the win, Mike Morgan, Chairman of the judges, and Editor of routeONE, says:
"Anthony's Travel quickly built a reputation based on quality service. Its willingness to innovate has been a key factor in growing turnover and profit. Company founders, Anne and Tony Bamber were at the ceremony to accept the award. This is the second award Anthony's Travel have received this year as they also won the UK Coach Awards Coach Operator of the Year - medium fleets."
Richard Bamber of Anthony's Travel commented:
"This really took us by surprise. To win one award this year was great but to get two was amazing! It shows that two different judging panels with different criteria both viewed us to be an industry leader. Its a great achievement for which we must thank our staff and loyal customers also , as they share in our success. Team Anthony's 'Twilight Walk'
One of Anthony's Travel selected charities is Halton Haven.
Sadly
virtually everyone in their life is effected by cancer, the staff and
management of Anthony's Travel being no exception.
On Saturday 3rd July 2010 members of 'team Anthony's' completed the 'Twilight walk' and 10k trip from Halton Stadium to Runcorn Town hall
and back again, luckily all team members were accounted for and back at
work on Monday, be it with sore feet.
